How Could This Happen To Me?

Thunder cracked outside and two girls squeaked, snuggling closer to their friends. The two others laughed slightly,
wrapping protective arms around the girls and pulling them close. Lightening forked across the sky, illuminating
the otherwise pitch black room. They younger of the two girls burried her head into her friends chest.
"shhhhh." he comforted, rubbing her arm. "I know you hate thunder storms Jess."
Jess sniffed slightly. Everyone took the piss out of her because she was the youngest. The boy holding her kissed
her forehead and she smiled to herself.
The lights suddenly flickered on, along with the TV and the four were soon surrounded by light and noise. They cheered
and clapped, finally able to see where they were walking.
"Who wants a drink?" Kat asked, grinning. She was the oldest and the most mature. Even more mature then her boyfriend
Pierre, who was dubbed the most mature out of his band.
Pierre and Jess' boyfriend, David, were in a little band called Simple Plan. They were pretty good at what they did, Kat
and Jess had to admit that but they did get a little bigheaded at times.
After taking their 'orders' Kat went into the kitchen and dug deep into the fridge, looking for the beer and cokes.
She walked back into the living room, craddling the alcohol in her arms, only to find Pierre sitting on the floor,
legs crossed and a blank expression on his face with David and Jess making out behind him.
He looked up at her, a look on his face saying 'if-the-don't-stop-making-out-behind-me-I'll-shoot-one-of-them!'. Kat
grinned and pulled Pierre to his feet. She then carefully started to pull David's shirt up, hoping he'd think it was
Jess, before sliding the cold beer over his back.
He screamed, falling off the couch and crawling towards the fire before warming his back up with it. He frowned at Kat,
who was almost rolling on the floor with laughter.
"That so was not funny! Pierre tell her!" he whined to Pierre, whom was also in hysterics.
"Sorry man!" Pierre managed to say through laughter. "But that was priceless!"
David glared at them before going back over to Jess and snuggling up with her as Kat and Pierre cuddled up on the
other couch. Pierre flipped the DVD player back on, before they settled down to 'The Ring 2'.
Kat and Jess, who were both very easily scared when it came to horror films, stayed close to Pierre and David and had
pillows in their hands, ready incase anything scary jumped out of no-where.
Two hours later, the film finished and they girls couldn't move from fright. Jess had even pretended to faint so David
would carry her to her bedroom.
David flopped Jess down onto her bed and straddled her. A smile tugged at her lips as she continued to play
unconscious girlfriend. David sucked on her neck, leaving his mark at his own will. Jess giggled.
"I knew it!" David cried, sitting up straight, his arms raised above his head. "I knew you hadn't fainted!"
Jess shut him up by bringing her lips up to meet his.
Meanwhile, in the living room, Pierre and Kat were having a very heated make out session. Kat pulled Pierre's shirt over
his head, groaning slightly at the loss of lip contact. A few seconds later, David burst into the room, pulling his
dickies back on.
"We have to go." he said urgently, hitting Pierre on the head as he passed.
"What's wrong?" Pierre asked, picking up his discarded shirt and tugging it over his head.
"You know Seb's annoying girlfriend?" David asked, pulling his shoes on and hurridly tieing them up. "Well she's having
their baby like now! He wants us there..."
Pierre cursed loudly before kissing Kat and running out after David.
"Woah..." Pierre said cautiously as David started getting into the front seat of his Range Rover. "Have you got your
permit?"
"No..." David began.
"Well then you're not driving!" Pierre told him, making him move around the car to the passengers seat. Reluctantly,
David climbed into the passengers seat and put his belt on. Pierre got in on the drivers side, also putting his seat belt
on, before turning the engine on and hitting the gas.
"Pierre, you're going kinda fast, don't you think?" David said, glancing nerviously over at his band mate. Pierre shook
his head before taking a swig of his beer he had brought with him.
"You shouldn't be drinking and driving you know." David pointed out. Pierre shrugged and took another swig. Just as he
bent his head back to down the last of the liquid, a car raced around the corner out of no-where and smashed head on
into them.
Pierre dropped the bottle, letting it smash at his feet. An air bag exploded out of the stearing wheel, stopping Pierre
from cracking his head open on it. David, on the other hand, wasn't so lucky. For some unknown reason, his air bag
didn't come out.
He smashed his head into the dashboard, blood flying everywhere. Pierre and the other driver got out of their cars.
"You ok?" Pierre asked. The other guy nodded. Pierre nodded too before looking back into his car. David was totally out,
his face and hair covered in his blood. Pierre thought back to the song they had written together.
How could this happen to me? I've made my mistakes. Got no where to run. The night goes on and I'm fading away. I'm
sick of this life. I just wanna scream. How could this happen to me?
The other driver called for an ambulance as Pierre went round to David's side of the car.
Everybody's screaming. I try to make a sound but no one hears me. I'm slipping off the edge. I'm hanging by a thread. I
wanna start this over again. So I try to hold onto a time when nothing mattered, and I can't explain what happened and
I can't erase the thing I have done. No I can't.
Pierre dropped to his knees as it started to rain. He looked up into the oncoming rain as the ambulance turned the
corner.
"How could this happen to me? I've made my mistakes. Got no where to run. The night goes on and I'm fading away. I'm sick
of this life. I just wanna scream. How could this happen to me?" he sang, still looking up into the sky. He let the
tears flow freely from his eyes as one of the paramedics got him to his feet.
He broke free of the paramedics grip and ran. He kept running towards Kat and Jess' house.
The girls were on the couch watching 'Finding Nemo' when he smashed through the door and went down to his knees.
"How could this happen to me?" He sang ever so quietly.
